The Business Mentors
All schools are allocated a Faith & Football Christian Business Mentor each of whom have a wealth of business experience and knowledge and are friends of Faith & Football. They meet regularly with the teams and host business surgeries for team members during the course of the Challenge. They help envision, encourage and equip the directors of each business to reach their full potential. Their role is strictly advisory leaving the ideas and practicalities of running a real company with the young entrepreneurs.
Becky Simmonds a travel & tourism executive is a very experianced Business Mentor, working with Oaklands School she mentored the winning team from the 2014 competition. Her enthusiasm to see young people reach their true potential is very infectious.
Steve is a good communicator, who relates well with people. He has over 20 years experience within the Financial Services Industry and has managed and motivated teams as a successful Branch Sales Manager He also developed his own Financial Planning Partnership into a top performing business. Steve has a passion to help young people succeed and achieve their potential in life.
Tim is the Principle of his own Financial Services Business - Tim Rampton Wealth Management, a partner practice of St James,s Place. Tim is keen supporter of The Enterprise Challenge has been mentoring students from a number of different schools over the past seven years or so.
Matthew helps British Business export to China, he has been closely involved with China for more than15 years, and lived and worked there from 1999-2014.Matthew says of his job" I love helping British SMEs understand China, its culture, and people."This his is first year as a Business Mentor in the Enterprise Challenge
John has 41 years service in the Commercial Insurance Industry as both a Senior Underwriter for an Insurer (19 years at Zurich) and as a Commercial Broker (22 Years )He prides himself on an exceptional standard of customer service and broking skills applied with honesty and integrity. John loves to use his business skills in helping to develop the young directors of the Enterprise Challenge.
Peter has a very successful history in Financial Services and more recently within the publishing business. He co wrote the autobigraphy of both Alan Knight and Linvoy Primus. He is currently the chairman of the Faith & Football trustees. Pete brings a wealth of wisdom to his role as a Business Mentor
Sandra has accumulated great business experiance through setting up and running her own very successful book shop. She is currently in a leadership role with Aldershot Baptist Church and a chaplin to Connaught School. Sandra's heart for the children within that school make her the ideal Business Mentor.
This is Fran's first year as a Enterprise Challenge Business Mentor, he brings a wealth of business skills and talents to the students of St Johns having established and grown a very successful Cleaning Company. A committed Christian, Fran worships at St Judes Church in Southsea.
Martin is a retired engineer and former joint owner of a research and invention company, Mecon Ltd. He is still involved with a company that manufactures devices that monitor vibration in the hand when working - to avoid white finger. Michael is a Committed Christian. He Runs a charity called the Besom in Histon and Impington transferring goods and services from those that have to those that are less fortunate
Val has worked for 33 years in the computer industry – with the very first PCs in Silicon Valley, California in 1981 to more web based work nowadays. She was Computer Manager in two Cambridge Colleges in the 1990s but has worked freelance for some time to fit in with family commitments. She enjoys seeing young people acquire skills and experience so was keen to be part of this challenge as a new mentor.
Moya is a former Company Secretary for Mecon Ltd and two other companies that were spun out of Mecon. She is a Committed Christian attending St Andrews in Histon. Moya says "we ran Pathfinders (11-18 years) from our house for 20 years. I can show you the front room carpet to prove it! I also help with the Besom charity, among other things.
Michael Scott
St Bedes School
Michael is the Faith & Football Regional manager responsible for the success of our Social Enterprise & Business Challenege. Launch in 2014 at St Bede's School the Challenege also operates at St Mary's School Cambridge. Michael is a chartered surveyor, the father-of-two is a former military contractor who has travelled around the world working on a range of army building projects, and now works as an independant consultant. He is also a volunteer for the international charity Operation Orphan.
